Jack & Jan's Garden Flower Photos

One of the activities that Jan and Jack love is gardening.  In our gardens and in our travels, Jack has photographed flowers whenever he can.  Included here are also photos of botanical gardens and wild mushrooms whose physical forms never cease to delight.

Botanical Gardens	This strikingly beautiful rhododendron was found in the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden in Fort Bragg, CA	Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA has pond lilies with leaves several feet across.	Hibiscus flowers come in outrageous, vivid colors.  This was at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA.
This is a Paphiopedilum orchid found in the greenhouse at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA.	The Bird-of-Paradise flower really is orange and blue.  It was also in the greenhouse at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA.	This unidentified flower was at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA.	Sometimes the foliage of a plant is the best part.  Again, this was found at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA.
Yes, this is another Hibiscus.  We found it in the Conservatory of Flowers at Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA	We found this plant in the Conservatory of Flowers at Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA	This Dahlia garden was in the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden in Fort Bragg, CA.	We believe this is a Dahlia.  We found it in the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden in Fort Bragg, CA.
Garden Flowers	Hibiscus grow as garden plants on Bermuda.	Another Bermuda garden shrub Hibiscus.	Daffodils naturalized in our gardens in Upton, MA.
Daylily flower in our gardens in  Upton, MA.	A swallowtail butterfly decorates the Lychnis flowers.	This daylily was at Jan's parent's garden in Brookfield, MA.	Phlox grew well in Brookfield, MA.
This rose was in Jan's parent's garden in Brookfield, MA	Garden flower in Brookfield, MA	A petunia from Jan's parent's garden in Brookfield, MA.	We think this is a ginger that we found on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Barbados gardens not only grow orchids, but Hibiscus as well.	Trilliums thrived as garden flowers in our gardens in La Honda, CA	We also used the wild violets as garden flowers in Upton, MA	Most winters are sufficiently mild that Jan can grow Cymbidium orchids in containers outdoors in our gardens in Point Arena, CA.
Jack loves daffodils.  These are planted along our driveway in Point Arena, CA	This rhododendron was in our garden in La Honda, CA	In La Honda, CA, we grew Fuchsias.	Jan loves Irises.  This one was in our garden in La Honda, CA.
This riot of color was a garden in Mendocino, CA.
Keukenhoff	Keukenhoff is the garden in Holland where the bulb growers showcase their products.	We were privileged to be there at the height of the blooming season.	There were waves of flowers everywhere.
You can't decide which is most beautiful.	Are the red tulips really better than the pink ones?	Or are the yellow ones best?	Beside the formal gardens are acres and acres of "growing fields"  We thought of the gardens as the display and the fields as the stock.
More pink tulips.	There must be armies of gardeners planting, weeding and tending the flowers.	When you can't decide, try all colors in one flower.
Mushrooms	Yes, we know that mushrooms aren't flowers.  But we love the shapes, sizes and colors.	We don't try to identify any of the mushrooms we photograph.	We just assume all mushrooms are inedible.
