Many of the roads cross the river in Tarangire. Most of the year, the river is dry and the crossing is a low spot in the road. When it rains, however, the rivers can come up very quickly and crossing can become dangerous. During one afternoon, we encountered a thunderstorm with rain. Our driver opted to detour from our planned route and cross the river at a bridge.
