Day 349. Mom and Dad are away again. They needed to finish their photo project from last week.
P032120008

The pad for the propane tank has been laid.

Mom and Dad went again this week to finish photographing the walls, ceilings and floors before the insulation and wallboard people cover them up. Auntie Carol takes very good care of us but we miss Mom and Dad very much when they are away.

P032120009

There were truck-loads of top soil delivered.

  P032120005t

And more truck-loads of top soil.
P032120006

The crew has started siding the barn.

  P033050039a

Day 370. There aren't many changes in the usual photo of the house front.
P033060093

The Barn and the Pumphouse now have siding. Like the house, the siding is tan, the trim is chocolate brown and the doors will be deep green.

  P033060051

The solarium in the kitchen has been installed.
P033050035

The solarium really is awesome from outside or from inside Our breakfast table will live here.

Things are happening quickly, now. The insulation and drywall are being installed as is the underfloor radiant heating. Details all over the house are being finalized rapidly.

P033050028

The Library and upstairs hall are looking good.

  P033060085t

As are the Guest Room and the stairwell.
P033060092

What little waste there is from the drywall installation is neatly stacked for disposal.

Day 382. There isn't much change on the outside aside from the number of trucks parked in front.

This week we saw Auntie Carol again as Mom and Dad went to our (soon to be) new home to look at wall texture finishes. We kitties don't understand wall texture. For us, as long as it is vertical it must be a wall.

  P033180026

In the living room, the "drywall" is up and the tape has been applied.
P033180028

The solarium in the kitchen is where Mom and Dad will have breakfast. (Where will we kitties eat?) This room still needs its tape.

  P033180032a

In no time, the texture is being applied, starting with the second floor.
P033180020

The first of the kitchen cabinets has been stored in the attic above the garage.

  P033180034

With the new "crew" came new mascots. This is "Mister".
P033180036

"Lady" will fetch a stick all day. Kitties don't waste energy on such endeavors.

April, 2003

  P034020063

Day 398. The outside of the big window in the second floor playroom is being finished and the scaffolding is coming down.
P034020071

The plaster "texture" is on the walls. Mom says it is perfect - not too smooth and not too rough.

  P034020067

This is the Workshop in the Barn. It might become the home for the Three Kitty Rail subsidiary.
This month our Auntie Ellen came to visit from the snowy East. (What is snow? Is it a type of toy?) Mom and Dad took Auntie Ellen to see our new home. They had to look at paint colors and cabinet knobs.
  P034020075

Mom says she can't wait until her new kitchen is ready.
P034020076

The family room is looking pretty awesome, too.

Day 461. Mom and Dad have just come home after their 47th trip north. I think I slept through some of their trips.

Mom and Dad have been very busy. Since my last report, they have been away 3 times. Our home in La Honda has been sold and Mom and Dad are now focused on our new home. We hope to be there soon.

  W036050097

The tile-setter is building a glass block wall for what Mom and Dad call a "shower". To us kitties, it is "the people-wash".
W035290073

He has also placed slate around the fireplaces.

  W036050087

The kitchen cabinets are installed and awaiting their tile tops.
W036050098

The finish carpenters are completing the stairs.

  W036050103

And the furnace is installed, fueled and awaiting its "maiden voyage". Wookie told me, confidentially, that he can't wait to have floors that are warm from the radiant heating system below.
W036050105

The Sunspace lights are installed. With the redwood walls and ceiling, the Sunspace really is a very special place.

  W036040083

You can't see it in the photo, but topsoil is being spread along the back of the house.
W036050094

All of Mom's reference books are packed so she can't identify this butterfly that was in the ferns along the street.

July, 2003

  day 502

Day 502. Ho, hum. It is July and it is hot. Mom and Dad are gone again - for their 51st trip. They no longer have time for fun and there is no space in our current house amongst the sea of boxes. Ho, hum.
W036280001

There aren't a lot of changes on the outside.

  P036200036

The weather vane now graces the top of the barn roof.
Mom and Dad have been to our new home 5 times in the past 6 weeks. In the next week, they will be there twice. The last time will be with a moving van full of our toys, our beds, our bowls and our food. We will follow a few days later when everything is ready for us. In the interim, we get to go to Summer Camp to play poker with Abner and Daisy. (We think Daisy cheats.)

W036280022

Inside, the glass block wall in the shower is complete.

W036280013

The maple floor in the living/dining room has been installed as has the credenza that will serve as a room divider.

  W036280014t

The family room has a similar credenza separating it from the eating area in the solarium.
W036280015

The kitchen cabinets are installed as are the appliances.

  W037080045

The granite tile countertop looks awesome.
W037080061

As does the pantry cupboard.
